Good experience can still get lost.
Second Summit started with a concern John saw in the job market: talented people could have strong experience and still struggle to get noticed. Layoffs, changing career paths, and the growing role of AI in hiring made the process feel harder to navigate.
Rewriting a resume for application after application could become exhausting, especially when the response was silence. John saw an opportunity to use AI on the candidate’s side: understand the fit, help people present their experience clearly, and reduce repetitive work.

02 / Define
Better fit before more applications.
John’s experience as a hiring manager shaped the approach. Reviewing a large pile of resumes is difficult when only a small fraction are relevant. Making it easier to apply everywhere would not solve that problem.
Second Summit puts relevance first: compare a person’s experience with a role, explain the match, and help prepare an application that reflects that experience. The intention is to help candidates and hiring teams find a better connection.
The scope also reaches beyond the application. Personal websites, headshot tools, career-change guidance, and layoff assistance help people think about how they present themselves and what comes next.

Prepare a focused application
AI-assisted resumes and cover letters adapt the presentation to the role. Trailhead helps fill supported application forms, with the person reviewing and submitting.

Personal websites showcase a person’s experience, while headshot tools help them prepare a professional visual presence.
Navigate what comes next
Career-change guidance, layoff assistance, and a speech-to-speech advisor support people through a transition.
The hardest part / Trailhead
Make applying easier. Keep it thoughtful.
Trailhead was the hardest part to build. Application platforms vary, and third-party autofill can encounter technical restrictions. A useful assistant needed to work within that uneven environment while preserving the candidate’s attention and judgment.
The challenge was both technical and human: reduce repeated form-filling without encouraging indiscriminate applications. John approached it through repeated experimentation, keeping relevant matches and candidate review central to the product.
Trailhead’s role is assistance. On supported systems, it helps fill the application; the person checks the details and presses Submit.

Measure progress by useful applications.
The intended outcome is less time spent on repetitive applications and a better chance for relevant experience to be seen. Improving the application-to-interview hit rate is a product goal, not a measured result presented in this story.
The guiding question for continued improvement is whether the experience helps people choose relevant roles, prepare stronger applications, and stay in control of their search.
